Opening Academic Year GSH & Artist Talk by Ritvik Khushu
In collaboration with the Graduate School of Humanities we open the new Academic Year with an artists talk by Ritvik Khushu.
Ritvik Khushu is a Kashmiri-origin artistic researcher and designer based between India and the Netherlands. His work is situated at the intersections of decolonial and post-colonial theory, design (as the edifice of modern aesthetics and materialism), and memory – that is material and immaterial, communal and ancestral. By employing storytelling as a tool of reclamation and reappropriation, his work seeks to reclaim, foreground and recover historically othered and injured knowledges, imaginaries, and worlding traditions.
Join us on Tuesday, September 8, from 3PM for a tour through Realms of Reality followed by Ritvik Khushu’s talk focusing on his current presentation in the gallery that is linked to his ongoing research project that examines the displacement of an Apsara statue against the backdrop and “loose ends” (Soneji, 2012) of the moralising projects of colonial and post-colonial modernity in South India.
