About the Gallery
The VU ART SCIENCE gallery focuses on the interaction between art and science. Driven by a deep curiosity, both artists and scholars are focusing on life and our environment on fundamental levels. In the gallery, we invite artists, researchers, students, and public to share their research findings, experiences and views regarding urgent topics. This exchange of multidisciplinary knowledge is needed to address some of the most pressing challenges we face as a society.
Explore new directions
By connecting artists, scholars and public, we want to critically investigate the systems that build our society and create positive change for the future. Being part of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), we have a special focus on the system of knowledge production. The urgency and complexity of today’s issues demand radical concepts which allow us to leave conventional paths behind and explore new directions. Twice a year we organize an exhibition and a series of accompanying ART SCIENCE dialogues, creating a multidisciplinary approach on topics that are currently at stake.
In the gallery, students provide tours through the exhibition. The gallery is located in the New University Building, which serves as the home for science & culture on VU Amsterdam’s Campus. Admission is free.
