ART SCIENCE dialogue Benjamin Li
This third ART SCIENCE dialogue for Foreign Land, organized together with 3D, will focus on artist Benjamin Li and his artworks in the exhibition. Together with researchers Betty de Hart and Lena Knappert, he will have a conversation, touching upon topics like work migration, Chinese-Indonesian cuisine and immaterial heritage.
In addition to the ART SCIENCE dialogue, artist Benjamin Li will reveal a special silk screen print, to be signed by the gallery staff, to become part of his Billy Li Bar series. This joyful occasion will be celebrated with fortune cookies.
Benjamin Li is a photographer who, through his photos, archives the history of Chinese-Indonesian restaurants, and its employees and founders.
Betty de Hart is a professor of transnational families and migration law at VU Amsterdam. She conducts legal, empirical and historical research on the national, European and international rules that transnational families encounter, the views behind these rules as well as the impact on the everyday lives of transnational families.
