Opening Life of Plants
VU ART SCIENCE gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of Life of Plants, Friday, November 17 from 4-6 PM.
Although plants create life for all organisms, we often just see them as means for decoration or consumption. In the exhibition Life of Plants artists Elspeth Diederix, Arja Hop & Peter Svenson, Oscar Santillán and Špela Petrič challenge us to look closer and renew our connection to plants. Scientists from various fields will share their research in the ART SCIENCE dialogues, organised in collaboration with Amsterdam Sustainability Institute (ASI).
The exhibition opens with a green intervention by artist PJ Roggeband honouring the work of the eccentric botanic and guerrilla gardener Ellen Willmott (1858-1934). Dr. Baiba Prūse from Athena Institute will present the integrated student project that drafted a plan for a community garden on the VU Campus.
