Opening ON LIMITS with performance by Lotte Werkema
The VU ART SCIENCE gallery is delighted to invite you to the opening of ON LIMITS on November 18 November 4.30 pm.
During the opening, Lotte Werkema will execute a performance, that will be part of her exhibition presentation.
On Limits, explores the experience of limitations and the (im)possibillity of breaking through them. Societies seek safety and control by creating order through limits and norms. This need, however, can also be misused to gain power and exclude others. On Limits examines how we can shape a society that is based on equality and inclusivity.
The exhibition presents works by Lotte Werkema, Eva Spierenburg, Meiro Koizumi and Joshua Serafin. Inspired by the artworks, scholars from various research backgrounds will engage in dialogue with the artist and the audience, fostering a multidisciplinary perspective on how we relate to norms and limitations. The exhibition is also included in A Broader Mind, the interdisciplinary educational program of VU Amsterdam.
